Digitcom’s Telecom Trend Predictions for 2019

In fairness to the poor soul who came up with last year's predictions, at the mercy of a volatile, shortening audience and consumer attention span, we have decided to put out another predictions article.

Based on that, it seems like a good idea, right?

Only fair that this year's foreseer, forecaster, or prophet (should you be so inclined), is the expert who last week judged 2018's predictions: Yassine.

We welcome any readers' thoughts on the subject! So, let's get to it.

Prediction 1: VOIP Managed Services

Yassine: As we move onward into the new year, I predict 2019 to be the year of VOIP managed services. Over the course of the last year, we've already seen the paradigm shift this telecom industry has faced. Gone are the demands for copper lines. We now say "hello" to the world of networking and VOIP solutions. Albeit welcomed, this change also comes with a few challenges. While VOIP solutions like "Avaya Powered By" come with an endless amount of flexibility and features, clients are now victim to completely different jargon. "IP Configuration", "Gateways", "Switches"... For a business that once exclusively ran their communications on analog lines, the move to VOIP means learning an entirely different language. Luckily, the experts can take care of that for you. Avaya, and other hosted services understand that networking isn't exactly the easiest thing to pick up.

Prediction 2: Managed Services

Yassine: This is where Managed Services come in. Managed Services make going to the cloud easy and effortless from an end user perspective. We provide the tools, the servers (also hosted on the cloud virtually), and, most importantly, the phones. This gives users the opportunity to breathe easy when opening a new location or moving to a new provider. In short, 2019 is the year where businesses say "You take care of it!" and we answer, "Happy to do so!"
